Email Address: This is where we will send the Best Guess, Worse Case and Best Case estimates of how much your taxes will increase if the referendum passes. Remember, this may take up to 24 hours.
Taxable Value and the Market Value of Property: (Numeric) The 2022 values are shown on your Trim Notice. If you cannot locate your Trim Notice, you can find the information for 2021 values on the Sumter County Property Appraiser's website. It is not the easiest website to navigate, so these instructions may be necessary. Or call the Property Appraiser's office at (352) 569-6800.
Land Value of Property: (Numeric) We need this number to compute the amount you will owe if the referendum passes. Unfortunately, Land Value is not readily available. You may do any of the following
Best Guess of Sumter Millage Reduction: VSPD estimates Sumter County pays 71 cents per $1000 of Taxable Value to fund fire and EMS services in The Villages. Tell us how much you think Sumter will reduce taxes. You can pick any amount between 0 cent per $1000 up to 71 cents per $1000. (Pessimists would pick no reduction; Optimists would pick 71.)
Best Guess of Additional District Millage: The District Board is allowed to charge up to $1 per $1000 of Taxable Value over and above the fixed assessment. You can pick any amount between nothing and $1 per $1000. (Pessimists would pick $1; Optimists would pick no additional millage.)

- Estimate a value. Land Values range from $10,000 for a small standard lot to over $300,000 for large lots with a view of a preserve. The higher your Land Value, the lower your District taxes.
