THREE WAYS TO VOTE
Vote by MailFor your convenience, registered voters may vote by mail. (This was previously called an Absentee Ballot.)
For domestic voters the deadline for election officials to send Vote-by-Mail Ballots is between 35 and 28 days (7-day window) before an election. For absent stateside and overseas uniformed service members and overseas civilians (also known as UOCAVA voters), deadline for election officials to send Vote-by-Mail Ballots is 45 days before an election DEADLINES The deadline to submit a Vote-by-Mail Ballot is 5 P.M. or 7 P.M. on Election Day depending on your County. Mail Ballots may be returned in person, by mail, or by authorizing a designated person to deliver the ballot to the Supervisor of Elections. Locations are specified by your County's Supervisor of Elections. Lake County Marion County Sumter County Each county maintains its own information for requesting ballots and voting by mail. IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING YOUR SIGNATURE UPDATED WITH THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS (SOE): Updating your signature with your county's SOE is very important. If your signature has changed either from age or health, and the SOE hasn't received an update, it could mean your Vote-by-Mail Ballot as well as any signed petitions won't be counted. Don't leave it up to the canvassing board to determine if your vote should count or not. To update your signature, use a voter registration application. (See Prepare to Vote / Register to Vote.) |
Vote EarlyFlorida requires a minimum mandatory period of 8 days for early voting that starts on the 10th day and ends on the 3rd day before Election Day. In addition, each county Supervisor of Elections may offer additional days. Each county determines its own voting dates, times, and locations. (If your county does not have the times listed, call the number on their website.)
Unlike the General Election, you may select any voting site within your county. You do not need to vote at your assigned polling place. (If your county does not have the sites listed, call the number on their website.) Bring a valid voter ID with a signature, such as a driver's license. A voter who does not show required identification or whose eligibility cannot be determined at a precinct is entitled to obtain a Provisional Ballot that will be validated as a vote at a later time. If you relocate within the State of Florida, you may vote at your new polling location where the new address will be recorded. |
Vote on Election DayThe General Election is held in November of every even-numbered year.
The Primary Election for nominating party nominees for the General Election is held 10 weeks before the General Election. Additionally, a Presidential Preference Primary Election is held in Presidential Election years. Special elections may be called at any time during the year. Polls are open from 7am to 7pm. Anyone in line as of 7pm will be allowed to vote. You must vote at your assigned polling place. Your precinct is listed on your Voter Information Card. You may also may find your precinct online.
